Despite the drooping economy and growing unemployment rate in the Valley and Arizona, a Tempe company is hiring more than 200 new employees to fill permanent and seasonal jobs.

Direct Alliance, an outsourcing provider of sales and marketing for companies, plans to add 230 new employees to its current 700-member workforce at its facility at 8123 S. Hardy Street, Tempe.

“We’re a growing company and, despite the current downfall, we need more qualified employees,” said Gail Burton, vice president of human capital at Direct Alliance.

Burton said the firm will add 130 permanent and 100 seasonal employees who will work during the holiday season. However, some of the temporary jobs may become full-time, Burton said.

Direct Alliance, a subsidiary of TeleTech Holdings, is seeking potential employees with previous sales experience, strong computer skills and the ability to work flexible hours. Job applicants can apply on the Internet at www.DirectAlliance.com or call (480) 902-5900.

Burton said weekly job fairs will begin Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the company headquarters and continue until the jobs are filled. Those hired will be offered training, competitive wages, flexible work scheduled and a competitive benefits package, said Burton.

She declined to say how much the jobs pay.
