2 D-Backs executives interview with Mariners

Seattle is coming after some of the Diamondbacks' top executives.
D-Backs assistant general manager Peter Woodfork interviewed for the vacant Seattle general manager position Thursday, sources with knowledge of the process said.

Woodfork was the second member of the D-Backs’ front office to interview for the post in two days, after the Mariners spoke to player personnel director Jerry Dipoto on Wednesday.
Dipoto and Woodfork are on a Seattle short list that also is believed to include Los Angeles Dodgers assistant general manager Kim Ng, Toronto general manager Tony LaCava and New York Mets vice president of player development Tony Bernazard.
The pecking order in Seattle is unclear. Ng, 39, would be the first woman general manager in major league history.
The Mariners fired general manager Bill Bavasi on June 16 and promoted Lee Pelekoudas to fill the position for the final 3½ months.
Woodfork, at 32 the youngest of the five candidates, has been with the D-Backs since 2006, when he was hired away from Boston by Josh Byrnes.
Woodfork has drawn previous interest from St. Louis and Pittsburgh.
Dipoto, who also joined the D-Backs immediately after Byrnes was hired, was a relief pitcher eight seasons in the major leagues before moving to the front office when he joined Boston’s scouting department in 2003.
