"We're starting to really get into the meat of the matter," Soronson said.
Now, the 20-mile line runs from Phoenix through Tempe and a mile into Mesa where it ends at Main Street and Sycamore.
Soronson said the options to be presented Tuesday include extending the line to Mesa Drive or Horne on Main with either a lane of traffic in each direction on each side of the tracks or two lanes in each direction on each side.
A second option would be to divert the line either north or south to First Avenue or First Street, which run parallel to Main.
Another option is have a Bus Rapid Transit line down Main, a bus route with few stops, Soronson said.
There also could be an express bus route from Superstition Springs Center to either Sycamore or Horne.
The presentation Tuesday is one of the last steps in an analysis process required to gain federal funding for the project.
