A former Scottsdale Wal-Mart greeter was sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday for fondling a young girl inside the store as she shopped with her mother.
Mark Ricchetti, 39, pleaded guilty on Aug. 28 to one felony count of attempted sexual abuse involving the girl he was accused of inappropriately touching inside the store at 15355 N. Northsight Blvd., according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
The mother of the girl said she saw Ricchetti groping her daughter while they were shopping, according to court records.
Ricchetti fondled young girls as their parents shopped, and then would give them a smiley-face sticker, according to Maricopa County Superior Court documents.
He was arrested in 2005 in connection with the incidents.
Wal-Mart, which began conducting background checks on employees in 2004, had not conducted a background check on Ricchetti because he already was working for the company.
Ricchetti had faced similar charges in Columbus, Ohio, in 1998 while working at a supermarket, but those charges were dismissed, according to court documents.
