The Cardinals are looking for an identity.
Are they the pass-happy offensive juggernaut of the last half of 2007? Do they rely on their defense? Or are they like a chameleon that is continually changing to fit the circumstances?
Bills giving their fans thrills
“I don’t want to say we’re searching,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “I think we’re still adapting to what we are. We played well the first two weeks, then we didn’t play well.
“We can certainly point to the reasons we didn’t play well. It was turnovers and mistakes. We weren’t as prepared as we should have been. That has got to fall on me.”
Whisenhunt reiterated that, “We’re going to do whatever it takes. If that means throwing the ball 57 times and score 35 points in a half, we’re going to do that.”
Defensively, if the Cardinals have to play soft or “blitz every down … we’re going to do that.”
“The biggest thing we have to do is eliminate mistakes and not turn the ball over. If we do that, the first two weeks show we’re a pretty good team.”
WATSON COULD PLAY
Nose tackle Gabe Watson, slowly working his way back from offseason knee surgery, could make his season debut Sunday.
INJURY UPDATE
Safety Adrian Wilson, who continues to nurse a sore hamstring, once again sat out practice on Thursday. So did defensive end/linebacker Bertrand Berry, who is coming back from a groin injury.
“From watching them work on the side, they both ran well,” Whisenhunt said. “I know we’re making progress.
“We’ll have to see if they can work in practice Friday. If they can’t do anything in practice, then they won’t play.”
The Cardinals had no update on Anquan Boldin’s head injury on Thursday.
BILL LIKELY OUTBills cornerback Terrence McGee, who has been playing “at a very, very high level,” likely will miss Sunday’s game, coach Dick Jauron said.
In his place would be Ashton Youboty or Leodis McKelvin, the team’s first-round draft pick.
