A 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car crash late last week was recovering from his injuries on Monday, while an 18-year-old man in the same accident has been released from the hospital, police said.

Teen killed, driver arrested in late-night crash

The 17-year-old remained in serious condition but is improving, said Scottsdale police officer David Pubins.

The crash happened about 10:15 p.m. Friday at Cave Creek and Lone Mountain roads when the truck's driver, Frank Poston, 36, swerved off the road, police said. A 15-year-old Phoenix boy died in the crash when he was thrown from the bed of the pickup.

Poston was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, aggravated assault and endangerment after tests showed he had been drinking, police said.
