Man dies in Loop 101 rollover

A man died Sunday afternoon when his vehicle rolled off the Pima Freeway stretch of Loop 101 near McDowell Road, according to Department of Public Safety officials.

The vehicle rolled several times and came to rest in a dry canal near McDowell.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m., according to DPS officials.

The driver, who has not been named, was taken to a hospital and has been pronounced dead, according to DPS officials. He was the only person involved in the crash.

It is unclear whether the man was dead when he arrived at the hospital.

State police officers are investigating the crash.
