At least one road closure still is in effect in Scottsdale because of Monday’s heavy rains.
Indian Bend Road at the Indian Bend Wash will remain closed through this morning, according to Scottsdale police.
Scottsdale roads still closed due to storm
Osborn Road between Miller and Hayden roads was reopened at 5 a.m., according to the police department.
Moisture from fading Tropical Storm Julio helped a powerful monsoon storm dump nearly 2 inches of rain in the Scottsdale area on Monday, forcing major road closures.
The five-hour storm that developed late in the day and blew in from the southeast part of the Valley, dumped 1.75 inches of rain on parts of Paradise Valley and slightly north of its border in Phoenix, while sections of Scottsdale along the Indian Bend Wash received about 1.5 inches, according to Steve Waters, Flood Warning Branch Manager for the Flood Control District of Maricopa County.
"I can't say that's normal," Waters said of Monday's storm. "The moisture in our air has been enhanced by the Tropical Storm Julio from the Gulf of California near Baja and Mexico. Julio is dissipating, but we've received the moisture from it."
Despite the rain, no significant incidents were reported to the Scottsdale Fire Department.
"People were careful in their vehicles," said Lori Schmidt, a fire department spokeswoman.
