Teacher's aide charged with three accounts of sexual abuse
In May, 2007, Mesa police arrested Kyle M. Hite, a math teacher’s aide at Westwood High School. Police said Hite had admitted to touching a 16-year-old student’s breast, saying he thought the victim found him attractive.
The allegations prompted the Mesa Unified School District to revise its criminal background checks because an internal investigation found Hite had had “prior police involvement” from another state that had gone unnoticed when he was hired.
The district now has more than one person review the records of new hires.
Hite’s contract expired mere days after the arrest, and, according to the district, he did not return to the classroom.
