The Tempe Union High School District released a governing board agenda revision Tuesday afternoon to terminate the employment of Rebecca Soto, bookstore manager at McClintock High School.

District spokeswoman Linda Littell would not confirm if Soto is involved in an investigation by Tempe police into financial records at the bookstore.

"That particular employee, who is the bookstore manager, is on the agenda for termination," she said.

The meeting is scheduled for today.

Littell said forensic auditors are meeting with the district's chief financial officer and director of finance to review bookstore records.

Last week, the district released a statement saying it requested assistance from Tempe police after doing a routine audit at the bookstore.

According to Tempe police spokesman Brandon Banks, the identity of the suspect will not be officially released until today, when the school plans to send a letter to all faculty and administration. Banks could not release the amount of money involved until the matter is discussed with the school's personnel.

Banks also said the amount of money involved is significantly higher than $1,000, which could result in a felony charge.

Littell said Tuesday that she did not know when the investigation would be complete. "It could be a long time," she said.

Soto could not be immediately reached for comment.
