“The Backyardigans.” Either that means something to you, or it’s a word gone wrong several different ways.
If you’re in the former camp, you’re probably either a preschool-age kid or the parent of one, and you’ll probably be pretty excited to hear that “The Backyardigans Live! Tale of the Mighty Knights” is coming to Gammage Auditorium in downtown Tempe on Nov. 28 and 29, the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s a stage version of the immensely popular musical-adventure Nick Jr. CGI-animated series, following the success of similar “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go!” live shows.
“Tale of the Mighty Knights” is based on the prime-time special of the same name that aired earlier this year, where Backyardigan regulars like Uniqua and Tyrone imagine themselves in medieval times, to the tune of songs like “We’re Knights.”
Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 15, at the Gammage box office and Ticketmaster outlets. Ticket prices have not been released. For more information, call (480) 784-4444 or visit asugammage.com.
