Owings to be traded to Reds as part of Dunn deal
Castillo, 24, was considered the D-Backs’ best minor league catching prospect. He is hitting .254 with six home runs and 47 RBIs at Triple-A Tucson, and is a career .283 hitter in six minor league seasons. He has also seen time at second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield.
The D-Backs initially traded minor league pitcher Dallas Buck and two players to be named on Monday in the deal for Dunn.
A source told the Tribune that the third player is pitcher Micah Owings, although the D-Backs have not confirmed that. Owings must pass through waivers before he can join the Reds, which may not happen. In that case, Owings would not be able to go to Cincinnati until after the season. It is unclear if Owings has been placed on waivers yet.
