Despite a steady decline in gas prices of late, American workers still consider them the No. 1 concern in their everyday work lives, according to the Adecco USA Workplace Insights Labor Day Survey 2008 conducted between July 30 and Aug. 1. It surveyed 1,186 full- and part-time adult workers.

It reveals that 81 percent of respondents are worried about something when it comes to their jobs, with high gas prices ranking as the highest concern, beating out a stagnant paycheck and work-life balance.
Last year, the survey showed that 12 percent felt high gas prices ranked highest compared with 25 percent this year.
AAA Arizona reported Thursday that prices for regular unleaded dropped for the sixth consecutive week. The statewide average is $3.77 a gallon, nearly 6 cents less than last week and down 30 cents from last month.
Prices in the East Valley dropped more than 6 cents a gallon to $3.72 on average, and Scottsdale motorists are paying $3.82, 7 cents less than last week.
Linda Gorman, public affairs manager for AAA Arizona, said a continuous drop can be extended, provided efforts are made to reduce energy consumption.
"The further both crude oil and gasoline prices fall back from their record highs, the more likely it will be for our leaders and consumers to resume a more relaxed approach to our energy crisis," Gorman said.
"Now more than ever it is critical for our leaders and consumers to work toward reducing energy consumption while pushing for a long-term energy solution."
Tucson drivers continued to have the state's lowest fuel price at $3.62 a gallon on average while Flagstaff motorists remained the highest at $4.03.
Nationally, prices dropped to $3.78 a gallon, nearly 6 cents less than last week.
