Got a spare cell phone and a fondness for country music?

If so, you could help victims of domestic violence and score two free tickets to Martina McBride’s Friday concert at Cricket Wireless Pavilion in Phoenix.

The country music star with the big voice is spearheading a cell-phone drive Wednesday at three Cricket Wireless stores across the Valley. The first 50 people at each location to donate a phone will receive a pair of free tickets to McBride’s concert and a poster, and they will be entered in a drawing to meet the singer backstage.

Cell phones may be new or used, and they must be in good condition. They will be donated to Save the Family, a nonprofit agency that helps victims of domestic violence with housing and support services.

McBride’s songs “Independence Day,” “A Broken Wing,” “Love’s the Only House” and “Concrete Angel” are considered musical statements about domestic strife, and she is the spokeswoman for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. McBride appears in concert 8 p.m. Friday in Phoenix with show openers Jack Ingram and Chris Young.
