Hospital patient hits sprinkler, floods rooms

A man looking to kick a drug habit at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital hit a ceiling sprinkler system with a chair, causing nearby rooms to flood and closing the trauma center for more than two hours on Sunday.
Gabriel Ortega Gonzalez, 32, who checked himself into the hospital about noon on Sunday with drug and alcohol ingestion, was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and disorderly conduct after the incident, Scottsdale police reported Monday.
After Gonzalez became violent, he allegedly hit the sprinkler system with the chair and the head of it broke off, causing his room and adjacent areas to flood, police said.
Hospital staff was able to detain Gonzalez until police arrived.
No dollar amount on the damage was available.
