Tempe police learned that the suspect, 51-year-old Graham Bussi Gravely, was in Yuma sometime after the crimes were committed, said Tempe police Sgt. Steven Carbajal.
Tempe police, who worked with the FBI and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, contacted authorities on both sides of the border, Carbajal said.
Mexican police located Gravely in Puerto Penasco, a tourist town also known as Rocky Point.
Gravely was jailed Saturday, according to authorities.
He was wanted in connection to the July 20 rape and robbery of the victim, according to authorities. Police said Gravely took the woman’s bank debit card and used it shortly after the sexual assault.
No further information was available Sunday.
