Valley residents have a chance to meet the candidates vying for the state House and Senate seats next month.

Temple Emanuel in Tempe will host a candidate forum Aug. 17.

Each of the participating candidates from Districts 17 through 22 will get a chance to make introductory statements and then respond to audience questions.

Due to the large number of candidates, the forum will be held in two separate rooms at the temple. These will be divided by district.

Event organizer Lydia Guffey said thus far, 27 candidates have accepted the invitation.

In September, Guffey plans to organize a forum for candidates running for Congress.

What: Legislative candidate forum
When: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 17
Where: Temple Emanuel, 5801 S. Rural Road, Tempe
