Mesa senior citizen finds grenade in her home

Police were called to an east Mesa residence Friday after a senior citizen said she found a grenade in her home.
Mesa police spokesman Sgt. Ed Wessing said the woman told police officers that her deceased husband had been in the military and that she found the grenade while cleaning out her home, located near McKellips and Power roads.
Mesa police bomb experts responded to the home where they found what appeared to be an empty hand grenade. Police taped the grenade and drove it to their outdoor gun range for disposal.
