Campbell (6-feet-8, 282 pounds) started all 12 games last season as a junior for the Miami Hurricanes and collected 50 tackles, six sacks, 19 quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and his first career interception. A two-year starter at Miami, Campbell was an All-American first-team selection by the NFL Draft Report, as well as being named first-team All-ACC and the team’s Jack Harding MVP award as a sophomore in 2006 as he collected 10.5 sacks.
He finished his three-year collegiate career by starting 25 of the 36 games in which he appeared, collecting 129 tackles, 19 sacks, six fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and one interception.
Campbell becomes the sixth member of Arizona’s 2008 draft class to be under contract. First-round selection cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (16th overall) is the only rookie not yet to agree to contract terms.
In addition, the Cardinals have released defensive end Bo Schobel. Schobel appeared in two games for Arizona last season after signing as a free agent on November 13.
