The Royal Palms Resort & Spa, an east Phoenix boutique inn marketed as a Scottsdale property, is the only Arizona hotel to make Travel + Leisure’s list of Top 100 Hotels in the World.
The 119-casita Royal Palms ranked 76th in the world on the prestigious list and 23rd best in continental United States and Canada.
The bestowed hotel honors for 2008 are featured in the upscale travel magazine’s August issue.
Venerable Paradise Valley resort Camelback Inn, which always snags five diamonds from AAA, didn’t even crack Travel + Leisure’s Top 100 in the continental United States and Canada, but its famous spa was named ninth best hotel spa in the world. It was the only Arizona hotel spa named in the magazine’s top 20.
A couple of other nearby resorts -- The Phoenician and Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain – earned spots among the North America top 100. So did The Enchantment Resort in Sedona -- the only other Arizona hotel to get a Travel + Leisure 2008 mention.
