Police looking for assailant of Tempe woman
Tribune
Tempe police were searching Sunday for a man wanted in the rape and robbery of an elderly woman early that morning.
The woman told police a man entered her home in the 6500 block of South Cole Drive and demanded several pieces of property, including the woman's debit card.
The man then raped her.
No one else was in the house at the time.
Later, a man matching the description of the person sought in the rape used the debit card at an automated teller machine in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Baseline Road, police said.
The man is white, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 160 pounds to 170 pounds, according to police.
He has dark scraggly hair and a dark scraggly beard.
He was last seen wearing a tan shirt and dark knee-length shorts.
The woman's home is on a cul-de-sac and police blocked the road with a cruiser and yellow crime tape as officers looked for possible suspects and witnesses.
Investigators request that anyone with information contact the Tempe Police Department at (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377.
