ASU QB Carpenter on O達rien watch list

Arizona State University senior quarterback Rudy Carpenter has been named to the watch list for the 2008 Davey O’Brien Award, which is presented annually to the best quarterback in the nation.
Carpenter is coming off a junior season in which he threw for 3,202 yards and 25 touchdowns while leading the Sun Devils to a 10-3 record and earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors for the second straight year.
He enters the 2008 season having made 31 consecutive starts (second nationally), and he leads all active Pac-10 quarterbacks in passing yards (7,998), touchdown passes (65), pass completions (586), pass attempts (958) and 300-yard passing games (9).
Semifinalists for the O’Brien Award will be announced on Oct. 27, with finalists being selected on Nov. 24. The winner will then be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN Dec. 11.
