Almost a month after friends stumbled upon the slain body of Travis Alexander, authorities from California and Mesa have arrested an unlikely suspect in his death.

Tributes to Travis Alexander, the motivational speaker from Mesa who was found dead in his apartment by friends, are found everywhere throughout the personal Myspace Web page of Jodi Arias, Alexander’s 28-year-old ex-girlfriend.

A photo album entitled “In Loving Memory of Travis Alexander” shows several images of the former couple on trips to the Grand Canyon, playing in the water, and kissing affectionately. Arias’ blog includes an inspirational quote from Alexander. The page includes several comments from Alexander, one in which he wrote “Any gift I could give you would never amount to the value your friendship has given me.”

The Myspace heading reads “Jodi Arias misses Travis. See you soon my friend, but not soon enough.”

Arias was arrested on July 15, 2008 in connection with the killing of Alexander who was found dead in his apartment at 11428 E. Queensborough Avenue on June 9th. Police refused to say how Alexander was killed, but said that he was found with “obvious signs” of trauma.

However, Alexander’s brother, Steven Alexander, told the Tribune in a phone interview that the family was told by the morgue that handled the body, that he had what appeared to be stab wounds and possibly gunshot wounds.

Both Alexander and Arias worked for PrePaid Legal Services, Inc. where Alexander worked as an executive director. Arias was an independent associate at the company, according to her Myspace business information.

According to family, Alexander had mentioned some problems that had come up in the relationship to close friends and family, but he never mentioned any concerns for his safety. Both brother and sister echoed that they had suspected Arias may have been involved in his death, and both immediately notified police of their suspicions.

Samantha Alexander said that she was grateful for the arrest but that a conviction was needed to truly give her and her family a sense of closure.

Mesa police detectives served several search warrants at Arias’ Yreka, Calif. home. Authorities refused to comment on evidence that led them to Arias. She is awaiting extradition proceedings at the Siskiyou County Jail.
