Library reopens after sprinkler cleanup

The Southeast Regional Library reopened at 10 a.m. Tuesday after a two-day closure forced by the cleanup after a sprinkler burst in the southwest corner of the building, damaging a third of the library's magazine collection.
Sprinkler burst damages, closes Gilbert library
Library branch manager Andrew Chanse said the library reopened on schedule and Tuesday was turning out to be a busy day. "The publicity you guys gave us actually served to remind people there is a library in Gilbert. People were renewing their cards."
The Southeast Regional Library is the largest in the Maricopa County Library District, with a circulation last fiscal year of 1.8 million volumes. Its normal operating hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
