OneNeck buys Ensynch’s data center business unit

OneNeck IT Services Corp., a Scottsdale-based provider of outsourced information technology services, said Monday it has acquired the data center business unit of Ensynch, a Tempe-based IT consulting company.

With the sale, more than 20 Ensynch employees and about 100 Ensynch clients will be transferred to OneNeck, the companies said. OneNeck is also acquiring the servers, telecommunications and other equipment at Ensynch’s multimillion-dollar data center in Tempe.

The sale price was not announced.

OneNeck’s chief executive, Charles Vermillion, said no layoffs or personnel changes are planned. He also said the acquisition is “a natural fit” with his company’s business of providing outsourced IT services to medium-sized manufacturing and distribution companies that don’t have the resources to do the work in-house.

“We are doing it in part because we are developing a regional focus instead of a national focus,” he said. “We’re finding that mid-market customers prefer to outsource with someone locally.”

The former Ensynch data center will be the third for OneNeck, he said. The others are in Gilbert and Houston. From those regional centers, OneNeck manages clients’ Web sites, e-mail, financial and operational systems, he said.

With the acquisition, OneNeck expects its revenue to reach $35 million to $40 million this year, up from $28 million last year, he said.

Ensynch President Gene Holmquist said the move will allow his company to focus on the IT consulting and professional staffing portions of its business. He added that the sale makes sense for both companies from a strategic view.

“OneNeck focuses on one business and we are in three,” he said. “We felt it was an opportune time to focus on our consulting and staffing businesses.”

He added that the sale will give Ensynch a “war chest” of cash to expand to other cities, including Denver and Dallas.

Separately, the Tempe company announced Monday that it has acquired eBI Solutions, an Anaheim, Calif.-based company, which will solidify Ensynch’s position in Southern California.

Ensynch already has offices in Los Angeles, San Diego and Irvine, Calif.
