Chandler intersection to reopen after crash

Amanda Keim, Tribune

The intersection of Alma School and Willis roads is expected to open within the next half-hour as police finish cleaning up after a three-car accident.

A BMW traveling south on Alma School Road ran a red light at about 2:30 p.m., striking two cars going east on Willis, said Detective David Ramer, Chandler police spokesman.

There were no serious or life-threatening injuries, although the fire department did have to cut open one of the vehicles to get to the victims, Ramer said. The driver of the BMW and two of six people traveling in a Lexus sedan, which was the first car struck, were taken to hospitals.

There was also a mess in one of the vehicles, which was carrying cupcakes that the occupants were taking to a Fourth of July party, Ramer said.
