Domestic dispute ends in husband's death
Andrea Natekar, Tribune
A domestic fight in Mesa ended in a man's death late Thursday night when he was thrown from the hood of a car.
Police said the incident began earlier in the night when the man, whose name was not released, went to a party where he was confronted by his wife. The couple fought before his wife left with her cousin, and the husband followed them in a pickup truck.
The vehicles pulled over near University Drive and 22nd Street, and the husband rammed the back of the car, got out and started beating on the car's windows and jumping on the hood, police said.
As he was still on the hood, the cousin began to drive the car away, and the man was thrown onto the road, police said.
"We're not sure at this point if he was killed from the impact of being thrown or if he was run over by the car," said Mesa police Detective Steve Berry.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the car fled the scene, although he later turned himself in. He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.
