The Diamondbacks sat one inning away from another series loss, three measly outs from dropping two games below .500 as Los Angeles crept up in the rearview mirror.
Milwaukee is still searching for that first out.

Diamondbacks - Brewers box score
Conor Jackson capped a six-run ninth inning with a two-run single as the Diamondbacks rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Brewers 6-5 on Thursday afternoon at Chase Field.
All seven batters in the ninth inning reached as Arizona registered its biggest comeback since June 19 of last season against Tampa Bay.
"I don't think anybody could be as excited as we are right now leaving the ballpark," outfielder Justin Upton said. "Being down five runs, no one in the stadium thought we could come back from that."
Jackson fought off a two-strike sinker down and in to sneak the ball through a drawn-in infield.
"It's a situation you always dream of being in as a kid," Jackson said. "You want to drive in the winning run, win the game and be a hero. There's pressure, but you've got to thrive on that."
Chad Tracy started the merry-go-round with a bases-clearing double to cut the lead to 5-3.
"That kind of gave us our pulse," Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said.
Upton - who had hit three rockets but had an 0-for-4 day leading up to the ninth - then dumped a two-strike pitch into right field to put runners on the corners, and Orlando Hudson followed with a double to knock in Tracy.
Upton was being waved in by third base coach Chip Hale on the double to left field, but decided to stay put at third.
Jackson followed with the game-winning hit.
The Diamondbacks jump back to .500 (43-43) and keep a 1 1/2-game division lead over the Dodgers, who beat Houston 5-1.
Arizona was in danger of dropping its fourth straight series before the late heroics.
"Hopefully this will spark us and get us going," Tracy said. "That looked like the old Diamondbacks right there."
Brandon Webb had some trouble on the mound, giving up five earned runs in six innings, but the offense saved him from a loss.
Arizona was 2-34 previously trailing after eight innings.
Turning point: Conor Jackson hit a game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to complete a six-run rally.
Stat of the game: It was the biggest comeback this season by Arizona, and it was done in one inning.
Unsung hero: Chad Tracy knocked a pinch-hit, bases-clearing double to cut the Brewers’ lead to 5-3 in the ninth.
Good to be home: J.J. Hardy went 4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles on Thursday. For the four-game series, the Tucson Sabino product was 11-for-18 with three home runs, four doubles and six RBIs.
