2 Scottsdale-area firms face air quality fines

Two of three companies facing large fines from the Maricopa County Air Quality Department for air quality violations last month were from the Scottsdale area, according to information from the agency.
CHI Construction Co. at 16340 N. Scottsdale Road signed a settlement agreement for $58,410 on June 27 to resolve 10 alleged air quality violations.
Achen-Gardner Engineering LLC in Scottsdale signed a settlement agreement for $27,990 on June 19 to resolve five alleged air quality violations.
DR Horton Inc./Urban Series of Tempe, settled the second-largest fine for June at $40,631 on June 12.
Overall, the Maricopa County Air Quality Department announced $368,670 in air quality violation settlements during last month for 87 Valley businesses or companies.
