Elderly woman found dead in Phoenix pool

Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman whose body was found in a swimming pool at a home in east Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

The woman, whose body was discovered in a pool at 4911 E. Ludlow Drive at 11:09 a.m. by a pool worker, had been there for some time, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The pool worker comes to the home once a week to clean it, and it appears as though the woman drowned, according to the fire department.

Phoenix authorities said the woman was dead on arrival.
