The region around Chandler's airport is continuing to transform into a commercial hub with the completion of a new industrial and office park.
Phoenix-based Panattoni Development Co. recently finished construction on two buildings, totaling 125,000 square feet, along Germann Road just north of the airport. The 11-acre project has a flexible design that's suitable for businesses that need industrial or office space, according to the company.
The Panattoni project is part of a larger master-planned business park called Chandler Airport Center - one of a number of major commercial developments planned in the area.
In the late 1990s, the city set up the 9-square-mile area around the airport to become a major commercial center, which will someday employ 25,000 people.
Other projects in the area include two 90,000-square-foot office buildings at the southwest corner of the Santan Freeway section of Loop 202 and Cooper Road. And a nine-building business park, called Carmel Professional Plaza, opened late last year along Gilbert Road just south of Queen Creek Road.
Chandler Freeways Business Park
Also in Chandler, Valley developer Ryan Cos. US recently announced plans to build a 130,700-square-foot warehouse as part of a larger master-planned business park.
Located near Loop 202 and 56th Street, the warehouse will be the fifth building in Ryan's 58-acre Chandler Freeways Business Park. The park is designed for back offices, research and development, industrial work, distribution and high-tech manufacturing, according to the firm.
Construction is expected to take seven months and be completed in May 2009.
The Enclave - Via Bella
In residential real estate, a Mesa-based luxury homebuilder recently announced plans for a 10-home gated community in Gilbert.
The 11-acre development, called The Enclave - Via Bella, will feature custom homes with sizes starting at 5,000 square feet, according to builder Via Homes.
Located at Higley Road and Houston Avenue, the project sits less than a mile from Banner Gateway Medical Center and about a mile from U.S. 60.
"This desirable location is the last remaining close-in area in Gilbert," company owner Trudy Licano said. "You can't repeat this. This is a one-of-a-kind neighborhood."
The development will also include an old-fashioned clock tower, tennis court, putting green and picnic area.
Two of 10 the lots have already been sold.
