Arizona State on Thursday received a verbal football commitment and had a player leave the team.

Scottsdale Saguaro's Kody Koebensky, rated among the top offensive linemen in Arizona, is ASU's fourth verbal commitment of the 2009 recruiting class. Reserve tight end Lance Evbuomwan is departing and might transfer to a smaller school.

Koebesnky, a 6-foot-4, 290-pounder, chose ASU over such schools as Arizona and Washington State.

Evbuomwan, who would have been a redshirt sophomore this fall, was behind Dane Guthrie, Jovan Williams, Andrew Pettes and Dan Knapp on the Sun Devils' spring depth chart. He did not catch a pass at ASU.

The departure of Evbuomwan is believed to get the Sun Devils down to 86 scholarship players, barring any academic casualties among the current roster and recruits scheduled to arrive in the fall. Per NCAA rules, the Sun Devils must be down to 85 by the start of the season.

It has already been determined that one player from the 2008 recruiting class, receiver Jarrell Barbour, will not qualify academically.
