TUCSON — Arizona has released signee Emmanuel Negedu from his national letter of intent to play for the Wildcats.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward from Nigeria signed with Arizona during the November early signing period but recently asked to be released from his commitment. Negedu, who played at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., was part of a highly regarded recruiting class that includes guard Brandon Jennings.

Negedu has said he wanted out because he’s not sure who will coach the team next season.

Coach Lute Olson took a surprise leave of absence last season, but says he will be back to coach the Wildcats next season.
