Queen Creek will begin reviewing the town’s ability to recover money it spends on recreation programs.

The Town Council voted Wednesday night to begin an estimated 30-day process to see if the town is recovering enough of its costs for providing recreation programs.

Fees for the programs could increase, town officials said.

Town Manager John Kross said the town recovers about 12 percent of the cost of its recreation programs and has an interest in evaluating the fees because of the poor economic situation.

That compares with a recovery rate of nearly 40 percent of costs by other cities of a similar size with similar offerings, he said.

Queen Creek’s neighbor, Gilbert, is recovering recreation program costs at nearly 68 percent, Kross said.
