Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who would like a new contract, downplayed the matter at the start of the team’s minicamp Friday in Tempe.

Tumello: How good is Campbell? See for yourself.

“I’ve always wanted to be in Arizona. This is the only place that I’ve known professionally,” Boldin said. “I don’t want to uproot my family and leave. I’m happy here.”

Yet in a recent interview on XTRA (910 AM) sports, general manager Rod Graves indicated Boldin’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has expressed interest in a trade.

Asked if Rosenhaus asked for a trade, Boldin said, “Nah.”

Boldin also said, “I don’t like to get in the media with business discussions. We all see what can happen.

“I’ve heard reports that definitely didn’t come from me.”

Boldin said he didn’t think the matter will become a distraction.

Boldin has three years left on his deal, so the Cardinals don’t really have to do anything. But the two sides have been negotiating.

“I think we’ve said to Anquan as well as publicly, that we fully intend to redo his contract the first window we have,” Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “We’ve made efforts to do that. It just hasn’t worked out.”

The coach said Boldin’s attitude has been fine and that, “As we speak today, there’s no issue.”

Graves didn’t want to rehash the conversations to this point, saying, “Our focus is just on keeping Anquan with us for as long as we can.”

“He’s as good a person as he is a football player. I’m happy to see him here at minicamp.”

The Cards also have expressed in a new contract for safety Adrian Wilson, but that might not happen until after the upcoming season.

Darnell Dockett also has expressed interest in a new deal, but he has four years left on his contract and the Cardinals have indicated they have no interest in redoing the deal at this time.

Dockett didn’t make himself available for comment Friday.

Karlos Dansby, who has been designated as the Cardinals’ franchise player, didn’t sound unhappy at all with his plight.

Under the franchise label, he will make $8 million, quite a jump from $800,000 last year.

“I feel pretty good to be honest,” Dansby said. “It’s eight mill, man.

“What can I say? That’s more than I ever made.”

The Cardinals could extend the franchise label for one more year.

“I’m not sure if the Cardinals are willing to do it,” Dansby said. “That’s up in the air. Right now it’s about playing football and making this season great.”

SITTING OUT

Boldin dressed out but did not participate in drills because of what he said was a slight hamstring injury.

Linebacker Chike Okeafor, who missed last season with a left bicep tear, is back in action. So is cornerback Eric Green, who missed the last five games with a groin injury.

Defensive end Bertrand Berry, who missed the end of the season with a triceps injury, is working himself back.

He could be fully healthy by the start of the organized team activities later this month, Whisenhunt indicated.

Among the others sitting out were tight end Leonard Pope (ankle), defensive tackle Gabe Watson (kneecap) and tight end Troy Bienemann (foot).
