Man held in knife attack outside bar
Kristina Parma, Tribune
Mesa police responded to an assault with a weapon early Sunday outside a bar. The incident occurred at the Hambone Sports Bar and Grill, 903 E. Main St., about 3:30 a.m., records show.
Officers spoke with the victim, Arthur Montoya, police said.
Montoya told police he heard his friend Cynthia Davis arguing with a man outside the bar. When Montoya went outside, he saw the man had a knife and was trying to attack Davis, records show.
Police said Montoya stepped in front of Davis and pushed the assailant away from her.
Montoya grabbed the knife from the assailant before he could attack again, police said. The attacker then fled on his bicycle.
A suspect, Timothy Catlette, was soon located by police and was arrested. Police said there were multiple warrants for his arrest.
