‘Hand orgies,’ condom races at ASU Thursday

Mary K. Reinhart, Tribune

Students at Arizona State University’s main campus can learn how to put on a condom and prevent sexually transmitted infections Tuesday during the STI Awareness Campus Tour on Hayden Lawn.

Planned Parenthood Arizona is touring college campuses throughout the state this month to promote sexual health and safety and raise awareness about STIs and unplanned pregnancies. Representatives will be on the Tempe campus from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A study released last month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that one in four teenage girls has an STI, including the human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia and herpes simplex virus.

The tour includes an information booth, condom races to demonstrate how to properly put on a condom, and “hand orgies” demonstrating how condoms and lubricant work together.

For more information, call Planned Parenthood Arizona at (602) 277-7526.
