Suspect at large after Scottsdale bank robbery

Mike Sakal, Tribune

Police are searching for a man who acquired an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing a branch of U.S. Bank inside a Safeway grocery Saturday in far north Scottsdale.

The man, who is described as white, between the ages of 30 and 35, about 5-foot-10 with dark curly hair, a goatee and a heavy build, entered the U.S. Bank at 32551 N. Scottsdale Road about 1:15 p.m. and displayed a handgun before he demanded money from a teller, according to police.

After the man acquired cash, he fled on foot, police said.

The robber was wearing brown clothing and a dark baseball cap.
