Gilbert boy saved from drowning

Adam Goering, For the Tribune

A five-year-old boy nearly drowned Sunday afternoon while attending a child’s birthday party at an E. Ray Road apartment complex.

The boy was found floating facedown in the apartment complex pool around 3 p.m. said Rob Duggan, a Gilbert Fire Department spokesman.

There were a large number of children and adults at the party.

The boy was not breathing and no pulse was detected after the he was pulled from the pool, department officials said.

A bystander performed CPR in an attempt to resuscitate the boy.

By the time that the fire crews had arrived, the child had resumed normal breathing and was fully awake and responsive, officials said.
