It’s a peek into the past — in the present. The fourth annual Modern Phoenix Expo and Home Tour brings the midcentury modern aesthetic — think bubble chairs, open floor plans and bringing the outdoors inside — back to life with two days of talks and walks.
The talks: Today’s public expo at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art includes period- and design-appropriate vendors along with a schedule of speakers on everything from “The Iconic Age of Modern Phoenix” to a (sold-out) tour of the Hotel Valley Ho.
The walks: Sunday’s self-guided tour visits seven houses designed by Charles and Arthur Schreiber in south Scottsdale, along with two other houses and several 1960s-era churches.
To whet your Atomic Age appetite, we’ve photographed three of the homes on the tour.
