Police are searching for two men who tried to steal an automated teller machine from a northeast Mesa drugstore earlier this month.

VIDEO: ATM ATM thieves in action

In the early-morning hours of March 9, the suspects backed a stolen van into the front of the Walgreens at 3624 N. Power Road. It took several batterings by the van, but eventually the suspects, wearing all black, entered the store.

But when the two tried to load the ATM machine into the van, the vehicle’s doors wouldn’t open because they had damaged it while forcing entry.

The suspects fled, leaving behind the ATM and ditching the van a short distance away.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Mesa police at (480) 644-2211 or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.
