One of the main attractions of ABC reality show and ratings juggernaut “Dancing With the Stars,” which begins its sixth season tonight, is guessing which celebrities will take to ballroom dancing and which will reveal themselves to be sadly bereft of all rhythm.

We checked in with Bill Jones, manager of Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mesa, for his picks on who might surprise and who might be surprisingly bad.

Adam Carolla
(radio host; pro partner: Julianne Hough)
Jones: “He’ll have the guys’ vote for sure. He’ll definitely be the entertainer, but I’m not sure if he has dancing ability.”

Cristián de la Fuente
(“international film star”; pro partner: Cheryl Burke)
Jones: “He’s kind of a heartthrob for the ladies. He and Jason Taylor will have the ladies’ vote. Cha-chas and salsas will come to him, but I’m not sure how the ballroom dances will. Definitely in the top five for sure.”

Shannon Elizabeth
(actress; pro partner: Derek Hough)
Jones: “She’s a pretty popular actress. I think she’ll do OK, top six, maybe.”

Steve Guttenberg
(actor; pro partner: Anna Trebunskaya)
Jones: “I don’t know anything about him. He’s your Wayne Newton of this season. He’ll get the older vote, people feel sorry for him. He’ll lose some weight and he’ll feel really good. Anna will push him.”

Mario
(singer; pro partner: Karina Smirnoff)
Jones: “He’s a good hip-hop dancer, so he’s got that behind him. He’ll be able to do the big movements, but he’ll have a hard time getting the technique down. He’ll have great rhythm and be able to please the audience, but a hard time controlling his body.”

Kristi Yamaguchi
(Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater; pro partner: Mark Ballas)
Jones: “Your winner, hands down. She is the favorite. She is so determined as a person, whether it’s her ice-skating or her benefits, anything she does, she gives 170 percent. And Ballas, he’s amazing. The rest are just fighting for second, third and fourth place.”

Penn Jillette
(magician/TV show host; pro partner: Kym Johnson)
Jones: “I don’t know anything about that guy. I think they’ll do OK. One of the first four out for sure.”

Marissa Jaret Winokur
(Broadway performer; pro partner: Tony Dovolani)
Jones: “She’s got a lot of stage performance, like a (season five competitor) Marie Osmond-type thing. She knows techniques and how to use her feet. They’ll do really good. She’s in your top three for sure. To get that part (Winokur won a Tony for the role of Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray”) you have to go through huge auditions and dance. She definitely has the ability.”

Jason Taylor
(NFL player; pro partner: Edyta Sliwinska)
Jones: “He’ll do good. He’s pretty talented, like an (season three winner) Emmitt Smith. He’ll get the guys’ and girls’ vote.”

Monica Seles
(retired tennis star; pro partner: Jonathan Roberts)
Jones: “She’ll do really good. She’s got a lot of athletic ability behind her, a lot like (season four second runner-up) Laila Ali. She’ll be a very strong dancer.”

Priscilla Presley
(actress/former wife of Elvis Presley; pro partner: Louis van Amstel)
Jones: “She’ll be really great. More of the graceful stuff, much like Jane Seymour last year. But she’ll be too mellow for her to go anywhere. She can’t do a salsa or a cha-cha.”

Marlee Matlin
(actress; pro partner: Fabian Sanchez)
Jones: “I think that’s the one you have to watch out for. She’s going to surprise a lot of people. (Sanchez) is an amazing teacher and an amazing dancer. Deaf people are actually amazing at rhythm because all they hear are the downbeats.”

On TV
The sixth season of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres 7 p.m. today on ABC.
