Joel Segal said he is negotiating with three teams and indicated he hopes to have a deal done by Friday.

Larry Fitzgerald, upon signing his new contract Tuesday, had indicated he hoped the Cardinals would be able to retain Johnson.

Steve Breaston, a kick returner and reserve receiver last season, could be a candidate for the Cardinals' next No. 3 receiver behind Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Meanwhile, the Cardinalshave re-signed free agent long snapper Nathan Hodel to a four-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

Hodel, 6-foot-2, 242 pounds, has been the long snapper for the Cardinals the past six seasons since signing as a free agent in 2001.
