Police arrived at the school about 10:45 a.m. to pick up Gloria Caprisecca-Duran, 59, who had an outstanding warrant by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
School officials called Caprisecca-Duran out of the classroom before police escorted her out of the building. The arrest was not made in front of children, Gilbert police Sgt. Mark Marino said.
Coronado Elementary is a kindergarten through eighth-grade school in the Higley Unified School District at 4333 S. Deanza Blvd.
The school sent a letter to parents on Thursday informing them of the situation.
