Driver thrown from car in critical condition

A man is in critical condition at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole at near a Scottsdale intersection late Thursday.
Evan Cash, 31, of Gilbert, was traveling north in the 7400 block of North Scottsdale Road at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at Cheney Drive about 11 p.m. and lost control of his vehicle before he drove onto the curb and hit the light pole, according to police.
Cash, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe head trauma, police said.
The roadway was closed for about five hours and alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, police said.
