Tempe police arrested a woman Thursday afternoon suspected of firing multiple shots at her boyfriend.
VIDEO: Police investigate Tempe shooting
Erin Holmes, 30, is accused of shooting her boyfriend, a tow-truck driver, during an early morning vehicle pick-up at U.S. 60 and Rural Road, authorities said. At some point during the ride the couple argued and Holmes shot her boyfriend, authorities said.
Tempe police spokeswoman Sgt. Cindy Davies said the victim, whose name was not released, was taken into surgery after the 6 a.m. shooting and is expected to survive.
Davies said police got the call from the driver’s dispatcher, whom the victim had called to report that he was shot.
The tow truck with a vehicle loaded on it was parked behind a shopping center on the southeast corner of Rural and Broadway roads.
Kurt Powers, the victim’s work partner, said the man was on his way to the state Department of Public Safety impound lot when he was shot.
Powers said he didn’t know why the man, who worked for Unique Heavy Recovery, had stopped.
Davies said investigators aren’t even sure where the shooting took place.
Holmes faces one count of aggravated assault. She was booked at the Maricopa County Jail.
