Scottsdale man arrested in shooting of cousin

A man was arrested at his south Scottsdale home Tuesday night on suspicion of manslaughter after police determined alcohol was involved in the shooting death of his cousin.
Marcelino Quintero Jr., 21, was arrested about 11 p.m. at his residence in the 7300 block of East Belleview Street after police responded to a call reporting an accidental shooting.
Quintero told police he accidentally shot Michael Garcia, also 21, while he was cleaning his Ruger 9mm pistol in his bedroom. Garcia was discovered with a single gunshot wound to the head, police said.
Garcia’s aunt, who also was in the home when the shooting happened, supported Quintero’s statements, police said.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
