Mesa police arrested a 44-year-old naked man Sunday on suspicion of indecent exposure and assault of a police officer after he became violent with cops in front of a crowd gathering for a baseball game.
According to court documents, a woman who was with her 3-year-old daughter reported seeing a nude man walking along the canal bank in the 1200 block of North Mesa Drive about 9:35 a.m.
When officers arrived they saw the man near joggers on the canal bank and a crowd going to Hohokam Park.
Police allege Kristian Gnadt punched an officer who approached to speak with him.
Gnadt, who is listed as 6 feet, 3 inches, 220 pounds on Maricopa County jail records, continued to act aggressively toward officers by taking a fighting stance and balling up his fists.
“All witnesses contacted on this date were offended by the defendant’s actions and agreed to complete written statements for police,” wrote officer Kimberly Figueroa in court documents.
