For sellers trying to offload their homes in today’s sluggish real estate market, the smallest imperfection can be a deal breaker. Bent window blinds. Pet odor. Dead bushes.

More selling tips

• Change expectations. You probably won’t sell your home right away or make the same profit you might have six months ago.

• Fix minor problems, such as torn window screens, squeaky doors and dripping faucets.

• Consider offering a home warranty, which can make older homes more attractive to buyers.

• Offer other incentives, such as paying closing costs or pre-paying a year’s worth of homeowner association fees.
