Arizona State freshman James Harden was named the Pac-10 men’s basketball player of the week Monday following a pair of Sun Devil victories to open the conference schedule last weekend.
Arizona State beats Oregon State, 72-53
Harden's presence is hard to ignore
The freshman guard averaged 22 points, six rebounds and two assists against Oregon and Oregon State. He shot 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc. He scored 20 points for the seventh time this season on Saturday, second-most by a freshman in school history behind Ike Diogu.
Harden is the second Sun Devil (and ASU freshman) to win the award this season. Ty Abbott was the player of the week in mid-December.
ASU hosts Arizona Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
